Team Canada Roller Derby - Brim Stone

Brim Stone

Skater Name: Brim Stone
Skater Number: 21:8 (or 218, if you’re playing by the good rules)
Real name: Kayla Wilkins
Favourite book: Cat’s Cradle

I skate for the Toronto Roller Derby League, and am the team captain of CN Power and the Gore-Gore Rollergirls.  Naturally, my favourite colour is leopard print.  Roller derby rules my life, and I’ve come to accept that.  I live in rural Ontario, near a little town called Kinmount (yeah, laugh it up…).  It takes me 2.5hrs to get to derby practice, but I don’t mind because I like nature.  My interests include heavy metal and horse-back riding, a sport which I would love to do more competitively, when I grow up.

Good Morning Ms. Wilkins:

I was listening to the Ontario Morning CBC Radio broadcast this morning and heard your interview with program host Wei Chen. Your interview was very impressive. You did a very good job of explaining the fundamentals of roller derby – a game not familiar to most of us. It is easy to see why you have been named as co-captain of Team Canada. Your enthusiasm for the game shone through in your interview. On behalf of Council, staff, and the entire community of the Township of Galway-Cavendish & Harvey I would like to wish you and your teammates the best of success at the World Cup. Go Canada Go!

Grew up near/in Kinmount, still have family there, so nice to see you bringing derby to the area. Will definitely be cheering you on, along with the rest of team Canada. Best of luck in the rest of the tournament.
